Bereits am 10.11.2023 erschien die The Beatles-Best Of-Compilation „1962 – 1966 (The Red Album)“ als erweiterte Re-Issue („2023 Edition“) via Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/Universal Music.

Auf der Neuauflage des Beatles-Sampler-Klassikers, welcher die Jahre 1962 bis 1966 umfasst, finden sich insgesamt 38 Tracks, darunter solche Evergreens wie „Love Me Do,“ „She Loves You“, „Twist And Shout“, „Can’t Buy Me Love“, „A Hard Day’s Night“ oder „Yesterday“.

Signifikant für die Stücke auf der Compilation, welche von der Beatmusik inspiriert sind, ist die Eingängigkeit der Melodien.

Unter anderem finden sich auf der Kollektion zwölf Songs, welche es in den USA auf Platz 1 der Single-Charts schafften.

Wurden die Songs auf der originalen Edition des „1962-1966“-Samplers von Paul McCartney und John Lennon geschrieben, gibt es auf der Neuauflage nun mit „If I Needed Someone“ und „Taxman“ auch zwei Stücke, in denen George Harrison in den Songwriting-Credits auftaucht.

Sämtliche Tracks der Compilation erhielten übrigens eine Abmischung in True-Stereo- und Dolby Atmos-Qualität, wobei an den Reglern in den Abbey Road Studios die Größen Giles Martin und Sam Okell zu finden waren.

Komplettiert wird das Ganze übrigens durch ein 36-seitiges CD-Booklet, welches Fotos, die Song-Lyrics und einen Essay des Autors und Journalisten John Harris beinhaltet.

Insgesamt ist die Retrospektive „The Red Album“, welche die Zeit von 1962 bis 1966 umspannt und mit insgesamt 11 britischen Nr.1-Hits aufwartet, ein äußerst gelungener Querschnitt durch die Anfangsphase der Beatles geworden und gewiss auch als Einstieg in das Werk der Band gut geeignet.
